Jessica Pallarez

PhD Student -- Chemistry

Team - Jessica Pallarez (PhD Student)

I am a Research Assistant at New Mexico State University (NMSU). The project I am currently working on involves the development of membrane molecular dynamics (MD) modelling and identifying mechanical properties of membranes when placed in different environments. This interest was influenced by my NMSU undergraduate exposure to physics workshops/labs and my interest in computational/physical chemistry. As a Las Cruces native, I have always had an interest in the STEM field and was given many opportunities to explore my interests. It was recently that I discovered my passion in teaching during my time as a teaching assistant. This has driven me to pursue academia where I can conduct research along with helping students.

Tatiana Kardashina

PhD Student -- Mechanical Engineering

Team - Jessica Pallarez (PhD Student)

I joined the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the New Mexico State University in January 2021 as a PhD student. I am currently working on multiscale modeling and biomechanical analysis of cells. My research focuses on evaluating microstructure and mechanical properties of cells and their components and developing a viscoelastic model of living cells. The combination of theoretical, experimental and computational techniques is fascinating, and I believe it will allow us to broaden our horizons in the understanding of living cells.
